Art

Hi guys

Today I want to talk about art, basically because I like it and I want to share this topic with you.

I am a person who loves to search, inquire about paintings and their artists and then be able to talk about them and try to find something beyond the basics that they explain to you at school, I like to look for artists who are not very well known. and compare them with others that we consider the kings of art, such as Van Gogh. Who by the way is the author of my favorite painting, if that one you were thinking, "the starry night", the most imitated and overrated painting in history.

Despite this I can admit that this man is not the best artist, his first paintings were always in grayscale and they were not the best lines he could achieve as an artist, so in life he only managed to sell a few paintings and when he died be almost bankrupt. If you ask me, the best artist of all time is undoubtedly Pablo Picasso who at the age of 8 was already making drawings like this:

Simply incredible, as much as Frida Kahlo, who until a few years ago was a feminist icon, when clearly she is not, it only takes a little research in her history to realize how much she suffered at the hands of a  man and that, Despite this, she never left him. Unlike the artist I want to talk to you about, I'm sure thatwhen you hear about her you won't know who she is, nor will you know some of her paintings, but don't worry, I met her less than a year ago. I present to you Leonora Carrington (narcissism? yes, of course), a European artist eradicated in Mexico, being the second exponent of surrealism after Kahlo.

(I
f you want to know more about her, I invite you to see this YouTube channel where there is more information about different artists. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ykK6TtNS3s )

Now I want you to see this image, do you know it? Surely you have seen it on some occasion, be it in a museum, on the internet or through a meme but surely you have seen it

And now, if I say the name of Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn, do you know him? Surely not or maybe you ever heard his name, but right now he is an unknown being. Well, let me tell you that it was the man who painted this painting, and he is considered one of the greatest masters of Baroque art. But, they did not become known worldwide as the first artists that I have named, and the truth is that I have not yet found a reason for this. But this is precisely what prompted me to talk about him in particular, because as we have already seen, his way of painting is incredible and despite being a great exponent, like Carrington, you have to look for his name to be part of the story; If this is the case with them, can you imagine what it is like for artists who are not considered exponents?

Anyway, just as in this case I only mention two artists, there are many more who are incredibly talented and little known, I hope they are encouraged to meet them and that the following artists in history are more valued. Since as I wanted to show here, his art is really worth it.

what do you think? Do you know any of them or have you seen some of their works?

  1. Wowowo! I think it's great that you have so much taste and knowledge about art !
To be honest, I had no idea of the existence of the artists you mentioned, but I did know Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn's painting for the memes. xD
Personally, I have a strong attraction to abstract and surreal art, I really like Salvador Dalí's paintings.
There is a painting that since I met it caught my eye by the amount of symbolisms and curiosities it possesses, its name is "The Garden of Delights of the Earth". It is a triptych painted by Jheronimus Bosch between 1500 and 1505.
Thank you for sharing art, Leonora! <3
